Rolling Stone blog was the first release information about this. Read it here.
Fender has posted a teaser video on Facebook.
There is a frame in the video with what appears to be close ups of Kurt's actual Jag.
Watch teaser video here.
While it is not an exact replica, it's the closest that's ever been produced by Fender.
Here is a photoshopped version with the pickups placed correctly, angled bridge, single string retainer, right-handed strap peg, and the extra hole on the trem.
Did you know or Earnie knows where is the pedals of Kurt?
ReplyDeleteI don't know why I'm choosing to post this here and now but I have been searching high and low for any info on the Lefty Ibanez Les Paul Custom Kurt had and supposedly used on In Utero. I think it may be a 2386L model from 1974-1976 because it had the set neck and those are very very rare. People have said it was seen on side stage as a backup guitar in the early days. There is a picture in CAYA on page 131 (Charles Peterson photo from HUB Ballroom Jan 1990). The equipment faqs say this had black pickup rings and a black pickguard (I have seen one of these online before-craigslist from Florida) but I also have first hand knowledge of white pickup rings with white pickuard and that matches what I see on this photo, but I can't tell if that guitar is definitely the Ibanez (although it is a lefty - it's by his left knee in the photo). Please beg Earnie to give us a photo(s) or something of this guitar and where is it now?

ReplyDeleteThat looks like one of the guitars owned by George Harrison when they were still a part of the Beatles.I know that the Beatles used Fender guitars.
ReplyDeletehey,
ReplyDeletenot the sg, the lefty lp guitar above his knee in that photo...it's a backup guitar in the background...never seen a photo of him playing it but since it's lefty it's his and likely the ibanez one?
I've never seen a photo of it. Only know about it from kurtsequipment.com WIll keep my eyes peeled for more info. Thanks! - Jon

I think that black one in the dalmacia photo is a univox copy. I remember reading on Kurtsequipment that some journo gave it to kurt and he painted a flipper fish over the logo.
